Frugal Friday--Consolidate Trips

I feel like this post will be preaching to the choir, but just in case I'll post it anyway.  

When you need to run errands, try and make your stops in a giant circle so that you don't have to retrace your steps too much.  



I looked for a good Family Circus cartoon online, but the pickins were slim. I'm sure this will prompt some fun memories of Billy and PJ and you'll get the idea of what I was aiming for.  

You'll also have to consider where you are headed, if you have a doctors appointment in one area of town, figure out what other stops you can make in the same area to help save on gas.  Of course this doesn't always work, but as much as you can you can try to make the big circle. 

Last Saturday my circle included a stop to drop of J at a friend's house, a home decor store for an item I picked out a few weeks ago, Wally-World, the feed store, the grocery store (usually the last stop because cold stuff needs to get right home), the library to return some books, the recycle center and then home.  

I usually try to go the furthest distance first and then work my way back home, which is another reason why the grocery store is last.  

I'm pretty sure that I did this even when we lived in town and everything was just a few minutes away, but the big circle does avoid back tracking and having to sit through extra traffic and lights and if you are running errands on Saturday, you can get back to having more fun instead of just running errands.  

Though don't get me wrong, errands can be fun.  Really.
