This is the Garden...

This is the garden that L&S built.

These are the weeds that have been growing the the garden the L&S built.
This is the bucket that I have filled up at least twenty times to transport the weed that have been growing in the garden that L&S built.
This is the third spading fork I've broken this year, filling up this bucket with weeds that have been growing in the garden that L&S built.

This is the salt (that looks like semi-permanent hail) that goes around the fence, where I have broken three spading forks and fill the bucket to keep the weeds out of the garden that L&S built.

This is the post that didn't want to come out the night before I snapped this picture, that holds up the fence that harbors the garden full of weeds, that has caused me to break three spading forks, and fill up buckets with weeds, that now has salt around it, to keep out the weeds of the garden that L&S built.

This is the tractor that didn't want to start in the dark of night to pull up the post that didn't want to come up because it was firmly planted in concrete around the fence that harbors the garden full of weeds, that has caused me to break three spading forks, and fill up buckets with weeds, that now has salt around it, to keep out the weeds of the garden that L&S built.

This is my brilliant husband
(stock photo)
who figured out that in order to get the post out he needed some leverage since the tractor wouldn't start and provide the help he needed, so he cut a hole through the pipe

to beat out the tractor that wouldn't start in the dark of night to pull up the post that didn't want to come up because it was firmly planted in concrete around the fence that harbors the garden full of weeds, that has caused me to break three spading forks, and fill up buckets with weeds, that now has salt around it, to keep out the weeds of the garden that L&S built.

This is the truck that delivered 12 yards of TOP compost
through the opening where the fence post was the night before

that my brilliant husband cut a hole through the pipe to beat out the tractor that wouldn't start in the dark of night to pull up the post that didn't want to come up because it was firmly planted in concrete around the fence that harbors the weeds, that breaks the spading forks, and fills up buckets with weeds, that now has salt around it to keep out the weeds of the garden that L&S built.

This is the pile of dirt that provided hours of entertainment for one and work for two others,

This is the tractor that finally did start that provided some much needed assistance for the spreading of the aforementioned dirt
that provided hours of entertainment for one and work for two others, from the truck that delivered the dirt through the opening where my brilliant husband got out the post, despite the tractor that wouldn't start in the dark of night, to pull up the post that didn't want to come up, because it was firmly planted in concrete around the fence that harbors the weeds, that breaks the spading forks, and fills up buckets with weeds, that now has salt around it to keep out the weeds of the garden that L&S built.

This is the garden after all the dirt was spread bucket by bucket, shovel by shovel and rake by rake.
Thanks to the tractor that finally started, after hours of entertainment for one, and work for two others,  from the truck that delivered the dirt through the opening where my brilliant husband got out the post, despite the tractor that wouldn't start in the dark of night, to pull up the post that didn't want to come up, because it was firmly planted in concrete around the fence that harbors the weeds, that breaks the spading forks, and fills up buckets with weeds, that now has salt around it to keep out the weeds of the garden that L&S built.

This is the bottle of ibuprofen that I finished off this morning.
The End.

Loved it! Looks like you will have the very best garden around- though I am working hard at it. Ray makes our compost- mountains of it, and everything grows great in it.
Question about the salt for weeds. Does it work? Any concern about salty rain leaching into the garden soil? I have been hand pulling the weeds in the beds and it is about killing me. Organic is difficult. Wish it was a good way to lose weight.

Hi Donna, I don't know if the salt will work or not, but the whole garden is on a bit of a slope so I'm hoping that there won't be any leaching into the good soil. The salt idea was my oldest son's idea to keep things from growing on the outside of the fence in the hopes that it doesnt work its way under the fence line.
